Tasmanian Oak Modern Coastal Buffet

This beautiful modern buffet was custom designed for a young couple needing to furnish their stunning house in Jan Juc. They wanted a piece that would last a lifetime, something hand crafted locally and in a timeless style.

The piece was designed to have a classic silhouette with modern lines created by the recessed handles and the shadow play that results. The chunky 40mm thick recycled Tasmanian Oak shell creates a beautiful frame for the lighter sustainably harvested door and drawer panels.

This buffet is great in demonstrating the difference between newly harvested and recycled timber. The Tasmanian Oak forming the shell has a wider variation in tone from a light blonde to a warm brown.  The grain lines have more random widths and a gentle flowing pattern.

The door panels in comparison have a more uniform colour and tight regular grain pattern with minimal to no sap lines or pockets.

This piece is destined for an open plan kitchen dining area where it is the perfect storage for such things as place and pot mats, candles, platters, the “good” china and silverware.  The top of the piece is a lovely surface to display a simple bunch of native flowers or a beautiful collection of treasured photos and items to create a lovely focal point in the space.

All of our furniture is custom made to our clients desired dimensions, timber type, thickness and character level.  This piece was designed to have the drawer and shelving configuration that the client needed whist maintaining a look that fit perfectly into their home. Attention to detail is very important to us to ensure that every piece that leaves the workshop is finished to an excellent standard with the construction and fittings designed to last a lifetime.

Please contact Bombora Custom Furniture if you want any more information on this piece or you would like to commission your own design.
