Wooden cabinetry brings a modern touch to this coastal home creating functional spaces and storage

The owners of this beautiful home in the Victorian coastal town of Torquay have used timber cabinetry elements throughout their modern home including timber bathroom cabinetry and a custom wooden dining table. A variety of different types of timber are used throughout the interior design of this home creating a point of difference between the spaces.

Wooden Kitchen Cabinetry

Australian hardwood Messmate was used to create beautiful timber kitchen cabinetry. The warm brown tones of the timber are a beautiful contrast to the black cabinetry in the kitchen and the polished concrete floors. The black sap lines flow across the wooden cabinets creating a sense of movement. Black laminate with a wood grain was chosen for the kitchen to create a sense of interest.

Room Divider Wooden Cabinetry
This wooden cabinetry was created to create functional storage within the space as well as to create a division in the large open plan living area. The Timber shelving was created from Messmate timber and the black doors reflect the design of the kitchen.

Wooden TV unit and fireplace surround
A timber bench top and a repetition of the black laminate was used to create the wooden TV unit in the home. The wood bench top feeds seemlessly into the brick of the fireplace. The timber shelving created in the fireplace surround created plenty of beautful styling oppurtunities as well as visually softening the space.

Timber Vanities

The custom wooden bathroom vanities in this Torquay home where created from Red Gum timber. The Red tone of the Australian hardwood timber vanities reflects the timber used in the window frames. A custom towel rail was also created as a functional divider between the wooden vanity and the bath.

Timber Front Door
Beautiful recycled Messmate timber was chosen to create the timber door of this home. The weight of the solid wood front door creates a sense of safety as well as a great noise dampner. The timber chosen for the wooden door is the same as the flooring which created a beautiful sense of flow in the space.

Wooden Handles

Timber handles where used in multiple aspects of the home. Round wooden handles where chosen for the cabinet doors in the master bedroom and linear timber handles in the second living space. The use of wooden handles adds a repeatable element in the interior design throughout the home is a cost effective way.
