Australian Designer Homeware
At Bombora Custom Furniture, we are very excited to be featured on a great new website Australian Designer Homeware. This is an Australian run and owned business that is championing the little designers and encouraging the public to buy Australian made and designed products. They quite rightly bring up the point that buying locally is not just great for the designers, but also for our economy as a whole. Some very interesting figures from the Industry Capability Network as quoted on the site…
For every million dollars worth of new or retained manufacturing business in Australia, the flow on effects for the economy are:
$333,900 of tax revenue generated… this then goes back into the budget and can be spent on Australian schools, hospitals, roads etc rather than in another country.
$95,000 worth of welfare benefits saved
10 full time jobs created
Aside from the monetary side of purchasing locally, I also believe in the new sustainability…. purchasing items of a quality and style that is timeless. Items that will last a long time without needing to be replaced due to breaking or no longer being in fashion. This means producing less waste and reducing resources used in manufacturing a replacement item. This is how it used to be before the consumerism beast was created, everything was built to last! Here are a couple of our fellow designers from the site which I have had my eye on!

I love the whimsical design and the rainbow patina from the copper. One of these beautiful pieces will look great in our veggie patch when its finally up and running!
