Custom-Built Wooden Cabinetry

  • Beautiful hand-crafted wooden cabinetry

  • Wood is the perfect material to use in the modern home to bring a sense of warmth, luxury and uniqueness. The aliveness of the timber creates balance with today’s palettes of materials such as white, concrete and darker hues.

Timber cabinetry is the timeless choice for a wide range of aesthetics, whether modern coastal, contemporary or traditional style homes.

Messmate timber joinery

Timber joinery — built to last

At Bombora, we craft our wooden cabinetry with the same care and detail as our furniture, ensuring each piece is built to be lived with and loved for generations.

Unlike many other materials that need replacing when damaged, solid timber cabinetry can be repaired and restored. Small marks can be spot-fixed, while more significant damage can often be sanded back and resurfaced, bringing the piece back to life. Timber doesn’t just withstand the years; it develops a rich patina, becoming even more beautiful with age.

Versatility in design

Wooden cabinetry is an element that can be repeated throughout your home to create a sense of flow and connection between spaces. From inbuilt bookcases and mudroom storage to kitchen islands, walk-in robes and bathroom vanities, timber can be tailored to any room.

Sustainable timber choices for custom cabinetry

The timber choice sets the tone for your wooden cabinetry, from soft and subtle to bold, warm and full of character. For custom-built wooden cabinetry, Bombora offers a range of recycled and certified sustainable timbers that suit different homes, styles and finishes.

  • New messmate — A warm Australian timber with pale to medium brown tones and hints of soft peach. It has visible gum veins, defined rings and a textured grain, with a more even colour than recycled Messmate.
  • Recycled messmate — A character-rich option with light to medium brown tones and natural variation. Old nail holes, bolt marks and aged markings give each piece a story of its own.
  • Blackbutt — A creamy timber with a soft pink undertone. Select grade Blackbutt has fewer dark markings, making it a beautiful option for clean, modern wooden cabinetry.
  • Australian chestnut — A light brown to cream-toned timber made from a mix of Victorian Eucalyptus species. It has a gentle, natural look with minimal dark sapline markings.
  • American oak — A pale timber with creamy blond to light brown tones and a distinct wavy grain. It works well for cabinetry that feels bright, calm and natural.
  • American black walnut — A richer timber with chocolate, latte and warm brown tones. Its swirling grain adds depth and drama to the wooden solution of custom cabinetry.
  • Tasmanian blackwood — An Australian timber with cream, brown and red tones often appearing in the same piece. It is a lovely choice for cabinetry with warmth and natural movement.

Timber samples to guide your choice

Timber samples make the choice easier. They give you a chance to see the colour, grain and texture in your own space before committing to your cabinetry. You can hold samples against benchtops, splashbacks, handles, paint colours and flooring to see what works.

For larger wooden cabinetry projects, this step is especially helpful. Cabinetry often covers a generous amount of visual space, so the timber choice has a big impact on the final look.

Bombora timber samples are available with a delivery cost of $14.95, giving you a simple way to compare options before making a bigger design decision.

A closer look inside your cabinetry

The outside of your cabinetry creates the first impression, but the inside shapes how it feels to use every day. Bombora offers two internal finish options for cabinetry and furniture, giving you flexibility across appearance, care and budget.

  • White melamine internals — A clean, practical option that is easy to wipe down and highly moisture-resistant. It is a cost-friendly choice for busy areas like kitchens, laundries and bathrooms. Bombora uses E0-rated moisture-resistant melamine, which means zero formaldehyde emissions.
  • Timber internals — A natural option for those who love the look of timber inside and out. Solid timber is used for the main structure, with matched veneer used where needed for drawer bases, vanity backs, TV unit backs, mirror cabinet backs and shaving cabinet doors.
