Our custom timber vanity design process

Every Bombora vanity is made to order and can be customised to suit your space, your storage requirements and personal style. You can select your preferred basin location, configuration, timber species and sizing.

You can also select a solid timber or stone top to complete your vanity and on the inside, choose between white melamine or solid timber internal.

Our vanity timber options

We offer a selection of 7 different timbers for our wooden vanities. These options are either recycled or sustainably sourced with certifications such as FSC. There is the right timber for every different bathroom aesthetic including the pale tones of American Oak, the feature-rich Messmate and the chocolate tones of Walnut.

Our bench top options

All of our vanities can be made with either a timber or stone bench top. Our standard stone top is the Stone Ambassador "Pearl White"; however, you can choose any of their range of silica-free reconstituted stone.

Our internals options

All of our timber bathroom vanities can be created with either a moisture-resistant E0 white melamine or timber. No matter our preference, your vanity will look the same from the outside.

Add the finishing touch

Take your custom vanity to new heights with the addition of some extra special customisations such as a rebated LED channel, a handmade timber handle or a matching mirror cabinet.

Choosing the right timber vanity for your bathroom layout

Selecting the perfect centrepiece involves balancing your available floor space with your daily storage needs. Whether you are working with a compact ensuite or a grand family bathroom, the right configuration ensures your space remains both functional and open.

  • Consider a floating timber bathroom vanity for smaller spaces

A wall-hung design is an excellent way to create the illusion of more floor space in tight areas. Opting for a timber bathroom vanity in a floating style allows you to showcase more of your floor tiles while providing a clean, contemporary look.

  • Maximise storage with bathroom vanity timber designs

If your priority is keeping your benchtops clutter-free, a floor-mounted unit offers the maximum internal volume. Our bathroom vanity timber options are ideal for family bathrooms that require deep drawers for towels and toiletries.

  • Select the ideal configuration for timber bathroom vanities

The layout of your vanity should be guided by your existing plumbing and basin preference. You can choose to have your basin centred or offset to one side on our timber bathroom vanities, providing more usable bench space for your morning routine.

  • Enhance your aesthetic with a timber-top bathroom vanity

To further enhance your layout, consider a timber-top bathroom vanity to add organic warmth to the room. This choice creates a high-end feel while ensuring your bespoke timber vanity bathroom remains the focal point of the renovation.

Benefits of choosing recycled timber vanities

Choosing recycled timber is about more than aesthetics. It’s a more thoughtful way to furnish your bathroom, bringing together sustainability, craftsmanship and character in one beautifully functional piece.

Some of the reasons to choose a recycled piece include:

  • Contributing to a circular economy with the recycled timber vanities that Melbourne homeowners appreciate for their low environmental impact.
  • Preserving the history of Australian hardwoods, featuring unique characteristics like old nail holes and deep grain patterns that new timber simply cannot replicate.
  • Reducing your environmental footprint by choosing sustainable bathroom furniture that avoids the need for new logging.

By opting for materials with a previous life, you bring a sense of soul and warmth into your bathroom that feels both grounded and luxurious.

Handcrafted durability for wet area environments

A common question for timber in bathrooms is how it handles moisture. In our Torquay workshop, specialised seasoning and joinery techniques are used to ensure every piece remains stable. This process allows the wood to adapt to the humidity levels found in coastal homes, preventing it from losing its structural integrity.

Proper care and maintenance for timber bathroom vanities

A well-made timber vanity is designed for daily use, and with the right care, it will continue to look beautiful for years to come. Simple habits can help preserve the finish and protect the timber's natural character.

To keep your vanity in excellent condition:

  • Wipe away water splashes and spills as they happen
  • Use a soft, damp cloth for regular cleaning
  • Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners
  • Keep the surface as dry as possible around the basin area
  • Allow good bathroom ventilation to manage moisture levels

Over time, real timber will develop character, which is part of its appeal. With gentle upkeep and a little attention, your timber bathroom vanity will remain a practical and lasting feature in your home.

Using a basin that isn’t top-mounted will require an alternative cutout size as well as alterations to the overall size and internal layout of the vanity to allow for the basin.

This is a custom design process with an additional charge of $50 per semi-inset cutout and $300 per undermount cutout.

We only recommend a stone top with an undermount basin.

We will need to have the basin at our workshop to ensure that the cutout and internal structures of the vanity are correct.

Yes, we can rebate a LED channel to the base of your vanity for an additional charge of $200. This channel includes a diffuser.

This does not include the electrical componants. You will need an electrician to supply and install the LED light strip once your vanity has been installed.

Wood Internals - Our timber internals are crafted from sustainably sourced hardwood and matched veneer, offering not only natural beauty but also repairability, biodegradability, and longevity.

White Melamine Internals - White melamine creates a surface that is modern, easy to clean and budget-friendly. Our melamine is rated E0 and is moisture resistant.

Timber has been used to construct buildings and bridges for all of human existence. As long as the Osmo finish is correctly maintained, the surface remains stain and moisture-resistant. Read more about the Osmo furniture finish and the maintenance instructions
